Welcome to From the Shop

Welcome to From the Shop, our blog. This is where we’ll share what’s happening in our shop in Plains, Montana: projects on the bench, finished kitchens, new options, and the small details that go into every cabinet we build.

A typical day on the shop floor.

How a cabinet comes together

Every project starts with a design consultation and a drawing, but the real work happens out here. Panels are cut to size, edges are finished, and each box is assembled and checked before it ever leaves the building.

Our CNC router cuts cabinet parts accurately and consistently, which means tighter joints and boxes that go together square.

From there, each part is handled by a person who knows what it’s supposed to look like when it’s done.

A woodworking machine precisely cuts dovetail joints into two light wooden boards, showing the careful craftsmanship we bring to each project in our welcoming workshop—guiding you every step of the way as your vision takes shape.

The details you don’t see

Some of our favorite work is the part most people never notice. Drawer boxes, for example:

  • Drawer boxes built right here in the shop.
  • Dovetailed corners for strength.
  • Racked and ready for the next step.

Built in Plains, Montana, one project at a time.
